Quote of the day
“Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until
another heart whispers back."
Aristotle
My name is Izzy McDougal and I am curator of the Bjorn Museum located in Zoeland. This month we are preparing an exhibit of paintings from the renaissance period, mostly Italian. The paintings are coming on loan to us from all over the world. I have requested many more that will actually make it. At this point I will be happy with what ever is sent my way. Each day will be a bit of a mystery. I have committed to learning what I can of each artist by way of sketching and researching.
I like to sketch because this is the a great way to really look at and appreciate the art. I am the one you see in an art museum with a pencil and paper in hand outlining the major forms. I try to keep it private as it can be embarrassing to be looked at in public. But I enjoy the process so much that I tend to get lost in the lines and forget about the public. It is hard to describe the feeling one gets from really looking at the art. One minute I am lost in the history of it, another lost in the subject or colors. The finally in the end I always feel part owner to the work. Like knowing a piece is owning the piece. Even if thousand people have feel the same way as me. Good art is like the moon, we can all say it is ours.
I hope that by the end of this month, you'll will have purchased your tickets to attend the gala opening in May. And also plan on bringing you pad of paper and art supplies as well!
