Stretch to the limit

I am home again after my 2000 mile road trip from Kansas City to Tacoma.

The Silk Road

At the Silk Road in Missoula, MT last night. It was a great restaurant with amazing food, wine and cool G's . There is a film festival in town so we had lots to talk about. I have to head out to Seattle this morning, but I plan to return as soon as possible. What a fun town!

Reach for it

I am getting ready for a road trip. Last week I flew out to Kansas because my sister-in-law was ill. She is finally getting better and we are going to drive together back to Seattle next week. This should take 4-5 days. My big goal is to keep drawing giraffes. It is a tall order and a big reach.

Another fine product by G-Apple

For some reason I have returned to nursing this month. This time it is not as a professional but for family. Ten days ago it was my mother with pneumonia and today it is my sister- in- law with seizures. She is in the hospital in Kansas City and I have flown in to be by her side. But I don't dare go anywhere with out my crayons and paints. I need my fantasy time. Plus humor is the best medicine.

I like the idea of having telescoping powers because sometimes I need a stretch and other times a nice recoil is in order. And so I  need to keep my perspective - found by taking the long view ( people will get sick. This is normal) and at the same time be able to remember the little stuff that happens from moment to moment. (Whether that means, giving sips of water to those who can't drink, smiling at orderlies, remembering to brush my own teeth, doing a little yoga, drawing giraffes etc.) We are here to love one another and at the same time love ourselves by drinking our morning tea.

A Penny for Your Thoughts

8 x 12 Ink and Charcoal
So this months assignment is mixed media. I have created this giraffe using blue and gold ink along with yellow and black charcoal. And of course a penny.  I really like the gold ink. It goes on smooth and is quite forgiving.
